SPACE Researcher Stephan Pühringer talks about the precarious conditions in science in the podcast ‘mosaik’
‘mosaik’ editor Raphael Deindl interviews SPACE researcher Stephan Pühringer on the precarious situation of science and possible reforms.
In view of precarious working and employment conditions, tougher competitive conditions and the increasing focus on excellence indicators, the situation for knowledge workers has worsened considerably in recent years. At the same time, fixed-term employees are now confronted with a professional ban after eight years of service due to the new regulation of the existing ‘chain-contract’ regulation (§109). In addition, the current inflation leads to a massive underfunding of Austrian universities. Stephan Pühringer discusses the complex set of problems and various possible reforms.
